RIT Cary Graphic Arts Press and its imprint, RIT Press, are scholarly publishing enterprises at Rochester Institute of Technology. Originally focused on publishing works in the graphic arts field, the Press has expanded into other subjects related to the RIT curriculum. We are dedicated to the innovative use of new publishing technology while upholding high standards in content quality, publication design, and print production.

Through daily portraits, this five-year project charts the physical and emotional changes of two women at the opposite ends of the “young woman” spectrum. One was moving with excitement into adolescence; the other, with trepidation, into middle age. Each day, Elaine and Julia stopped their separate activities and met in their living room to pose for a portrait. Through the lens of the camera, these moments have come to define the years of their shared experience.

The RIT Cary Graphic Arts Collection's latest tribute to Hermann and Gudrun Zapf, "Manuale Zapficum," is a letterpress-printed deluxe book designed in the same form as Hermann Zapf's inspiring 1968 "Manuale Typographicum."

Hot off the presses! Check out this new set of 8 notecards, each featuring a different animal from the "Marvelous Menagerie" on front, blank inside. Printed from a 19th-century wood-engraving for the Cary Graphic Arts Press at RIT.

George Tscherny began his professional career as a graphic designer in New York in 1950. He served two terms as president of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). In 1997, he was inducted into the New York Art Directors Hall of Fame. A comprehensive selection of his work is included in the Graphic Design Archives at RIT.
